The Last Caribou

Framed Original Oil Painting

20x30"

The Last Caribou was inspired by a conversation I had with a lady from the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, & Natural Resource Operations, who was visiting the shared studio space in Kimberley that I was part of in 2019. She was specifically in town as part of the BC Caribou Recovery Team. The information she shared with me was quite disturbing and left me pondering the relationship between humans and our environment.

I won't dive deep into this subject but it feels like a huge issue to tackle and left me wondering what I could, as an individual, do to help.

Therefore, I'm proud to donate 10% of the sale of the original oil painting and $10 of the sale of each limited edition canvas print towards local conservation initiatives.

While humanity is undoubtedly impacting the Caribou population, there is still hope. I tried to capture the optimism chance of revival in this painting, specifically playing with light and the dawning of a new day.

I hope you feel the warmth and anticipation of a brighter future emanating from this original oil painting.
